artist statement woes

I have start of what will become a very good artist statement, but I am frustrated that the classmates who are supposed to give suggestions have not.

It is taking longer than I expected to get a good draft.  One frustration is the requirement for it to be a certain length.  I often find it hard to write lengthy items.

Another frustration is that I must write a statement that reflects the project.  This is difficult, when apparently I am not focused enough for the project idea.

I will post the latest version of the statement in a different post tomorrow.  helpful comments will be welcomed.

In class today we discussed what research is and where we might go for information. 
Here are some of my notes from the class.
Common language usages
   White coats, family history, focus groups
Artistic research
   Local history, rest materials, reactions
Academic research
   Formal, public end, thesis,rules and styles
   Quality control....ethics, standards
   Institutional, people
These notes were to help us determine what kinds of research exists. 
Additionally we discussed where to locate sources and how to determine legitimacy of web sources.  Various search engines were recomended as was the library web page.  Keeping track of where we get information was also strongly encouraged and ways of doing so were discussed.

I spent part of the past week researching and using mindmap apps for my iPad2.  It is a very useful app for tracking and sorting ideas and thoughts about the Capstone Project.  Here are the first two maps I created with the program.

Day 1 of the experience

I am a senior at Southern Oregon University(SOU). My major is studio art with and emphasis in photography.  This year I will be working on my final project.  The project includes a written component as well as a photographic component.
Today was the first day of the class, which is intended to assist in getting the project components completed. The class is both online and physical meetings.  For the online portion, I am expected to share what I am working on for my Project.  The meetings are to be spent doing research for the written portion of the project and working on other aspects of the project.
